Nevada Green Guide

On October 31, 1864, Nevada was admitted into the union as the 36th U.S. State.  
Nevada is a beautiful state full of natural resources and wildlife.  Being green in Nevada is often a matter of survival, a sense of pride and a desire to protect the resources of this natural state for everyone to enjoy. The beauty of our planet abounds throughout Nevada from its blue skies with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, powdery perfection on the ski slopes, Lake Tahoe, peaceful and serene state parks, to its historic landmarks and cultural experiences. So you can see why we want to conserve the natural beauty of our state. You'll find some of the best biking trails in the state and ample sites for camping, hiking, rock climbing and watching wildlife, so keeping our beautiful state environmentally productive is very important to us.
By creating green jobs, promoting environmental education, recycling, offering green building materials, sustainable buildings and energy efficient appliances, Nevada is joining the rest of the green community to create a healthy environment for our children and all people to grow and experience this beautiful world we live in.
The origin of the name is Spanish and means ‘snowcapped.’ Its nicknames are the ‘Sagebrush State,’ ‘Silver State and ‘Battle Born State.’
