Do you know where cork actually comes from?  Cork comes from the bark of the Cork Oak Tree that grows in the forests of Mediteranean countries, and is extremely durable, beautiful, warm, comfortable and quiet. The tree is never cut - the bark is harvested every 9-14 years maintaining its natural habitat.  Cork has a honeycombed structure cmposition of 30-40 million cells making it uniquely characteristic.

A Cork Oak Tree can live up to 300-500 years. Because of its long lifespan, Mother Nature gave this species a lot of help to protect it from the elements. The bark is fire retardant to protect it from forest fires, its resistant to temperature changes and more than 38 species of insects including the termite, does not spread flames in a fire or release toxic materials.

If you like walking barefoot around the house, you will love this flooring. It is quiet, soft and warm on the feet and feels somewhat like walking on air.  Cork is resilient, and if something is dropped denting the floor, it will eventually bounce back to its original shape. Furniture marks are less noticeable on cork flooring as opposed to vinyl, carpet or wood. Cork flooring is a natural insulator because of its density making it warm to walk on and insulates sound.  It you take good care of your cork flooring, it can last for decades.
