Composting

The process of decomposition in nature - a process that occurs constantly and gradually, is called composting.  Inside this pile of decomposing matter, billions of decaying organisms feed, grow, reproduce and die. It is a way of recycling household and garden wastes into one of the best organic fertilizers that can benefit your organic garden.  Composting benefits both the environment and your budget.  Instead of using commercial fertilizers loaded with chemicals, composting offers a source of high quality nutrition to your garden. Feed your garden, and your garden will feed you.

Did you know that composting protects plants from certain diseases, improves soil structure, and moisture retention?  And that 3/4 of a household's waste is compostable?

You can start in your own backyard, kitchen and neighborhood where an abundance of composting material just waits to be found and used in an environmentally friendly way.  Grass clippings, pine needles and cones, hay, kitchen scraps, coffee grounds, and dried leaves are just a few  nutrient rich materials that will fertilize your garden.
